This past week we had a great time at Disney world. Izzie and Mackenzie had such a great time and we ran then ragged. Most days we were going from 8am until well into the evening and they did as good as you could ask a 2 and 6 year old to do. I have posted some pictures on our website for everyone to enjoy.

Daddy Daughter Dance

Tonight at Mackenzie's school they had a daddy daughter dance. Mackenzie was looking forward to it all day and we had fun going through my jewelry box and picking out something for her. She ended up choosing my prom jewelry. She looked so pretty. They had big search lights outside of the school and that made here even more excited. I can't wait until they get home so I can hear all about it.

Holiday Magic at Brookfield Zoo

One Saturday in December we bundled up and went to the zoo for their holiday lights. It is so pretty there and Jason hadn't been since before we had kids. Mackenzie and I went the year that Jason was in London. We had a really good time. We got our picture taken with a Llama, I'll have to add that later. Mackenzie was a little disappointed that we didn't get our picture taken with the reindeer, but I think the Llama has grown on her.

We have a new member of our family. We have adopted a 2 year old chug (Chihuahua/pug mix) who had puppies about 8 weeks ago. She is very sweet and the girls just love her. We are happy to be able to give her a good home. We got her from www.roverrescue.org.

Rock Star

Tonight two new rockstars are showing off what they've got. While I was playing with the girls tonight we had the Hannah Montana movie on in the background and as the movie got close to the end, there are 3 songs that come on. Mackenzie is 6

Today was Mackenzie's 6th birthday. We had a great day. She opened her gifts when she got up and then we went to Chuck E Cheese's and had so much fun. We got her a special ice cream birthday treat (she had her birthday cupcakes at the Thanksgiving celebration). They she asked for steak for dinner so we had wonderful grilled steaks. It was a really great day. Grandma and grandpa DuBois were here for her birthday which made it even more special.

Happy Thanksgiving from Macabelle.com! This year Barb's parents are visiting the Ragsdale household from North Carolina. I think Barbie is loves having her parents here just as much as Mackenzie and Izzie are loving having their grandparents here. Barb's parents arrived in town on Tuesday evening and will be staying with us through this coming Monday. Thus far it has been an enjoyable visit. Wednesday the girls got to play with their grandparents while Barbie and I were working and today Barbie and her Mom went to shopping while her Dad and I got to hang out with the girls. Tonight Barb and her Mom went to go see New Moon (the new twilight movie) while her Dad and I stayed home and watched GI Joe. Some new pictures have been added from yesterday and you can definitely expect to see some updates coming for the next few days and Mackenzie turns 6 on Sunday!

Izzie has been quite a ham the past few days. She has been walking around in any pair of shoes that she can get her feet into as well as following Mackenzie around and trying to do everything her big sister does. She even got her first pony tail in today. She has been walking around showing everyone her pony, she is very proud of it. These times are too priceless.

Some new formatting has been made to the pictures and a video page has been added. Hopefully within the next day or so I will have some new pages up as well.

Vacation

Last weekend we went up to the Dells with Jason's family. Jason, the girls, our brother-in-law, nephew, and I all went up together on Friday morning (the other kids had to go to school). We had a blast on Friday. Of course Izzie didn't sleep in the car on the way up but she ended up falling asleep on me in the lazy river. If I hadn't been in the raft so uncomfortably I would've stayed in there all day. She was so snuggly. After I couldn't take the discomfort anymore I ended up getting out and Izzie snuggled with Jason in the lazy river while I got to go down some slides with Mackenzie. Mackenzie was a little fish. She was swimming great and both of the girls were having such a great time. We ended up going to dinner and by the time we were done with dinner the rest of the family was there. We all went back to the pool for a bit (although Izzie didn't last much longer). On Saturday some of the guys went golfing and Mackenzie hung out with me in the room while Izzie took a marathon nap. Once Jason got back from golf we went back in the water. Izzie wasn't really into it that day though. We ended up splitting up from the rest of the family because the park we were at just wasn't working for her and a mean little boy splashed her in the face and made her cry. We ended up taking her down a slide and even though she cried, she was a little trooper. After dinner we stayed dry and the kids played in the indoor play area and the adults had a little ball fight. Other than our niece not feeling well we had a lot of fun. I was really proud of how well the girls did. Izzie slept pretty good in the pack and play and Mackenzie was a good sport all weekend. It's really fun to see her with her cousins. Unfortunately I don't have any pictures from the weekend.

Apple Picking

We went apple picking a couple of weekends ago. It was amazing how much Izzie liked eating the apples. We picked a ton of gala apples (my favorite). I made two apple crisps so far. Maybe this weekend I'll make another one.

Nice Visit

We have had a very busy summer so far. We had my aunt and uncle visit for a weekend, which was really fun. The girls really got a kick out of playing games with them and it was really good to see them. Then the next week we went to North Carolina to visit my family. It was pretty hot, but we still had a really good time. We drove down and it was our first long road trip with the girls but we did it overnight and they did great. It worked out really well. I'm sorry I didn't post any pictures from our fun so far this summer.

Last weekend Scott and Holly came in to visit us. It was great to have them here. We went to the arboretum and it was really pretty. We went to the zoo and saw some baby animals, the coolest of all were the baby peacocks. We made a fire at the house and roasted marshmallows. We got to play games after the girls went to bed. It was a really good visit.

This is what happens when you are not paying full attention to your 15-month-old child and she figures out how to get the cap off a marker. We had an emergency bath and she turned the bathwater green. Lucky for me the marker was washable and that she decided to color on herself and not the house.

Wagon Ride

I know it's been a long time since I've posted on here, but it's been a crazy couple of months. I had my thyroid removed because of a tumor that was potentially cancer. Luckily it turned out that it was not cancer, but now I have no thyroid so I get to be
on hormone replacement pills for the rest of my life. Then once I was recovered from that, Jason had shoulder surgery. He is doing excellent. Tomorrow is Mackenzie's last day of preschool. It will be strange not going there any more. It's just crazy to look at them and realize how fast they are changing. Izzie is finally a walking machine and her hair is getting long.

Yesterday the weather was perfect so we went to the park and Mackenzie did the monkey bars all by herself. It was really cool.

Random Thoughts

Sorry I haven't posted on here in a while. We haven't had much exciting things happen and I've been really bad about downloading pictures...I still have to do that. Izzie has gotten 3 teeth in the last month and it looks like a 4th one is trying to come through now. Poor kid. She's quite the trooper though. We got her feet measured today and ordered her first pair of shoes. It will be cute to see her in them. She's not walking yet, but I think she's getting close. She is getting more confidence being on her feet each day.

Last Monday was a sad day. Mackenzie came home and announced that it was Groundhog Day, which happened to be Zane's birthday. The date didn't make us think about it, but Groundhog Day certainly did. We miss him, but I'm sure he had a party in Heaven with the rest of our loved ones.

Working from home is wonderful but also very exhausting. I love being home all day with my babies, but I find that I'm not very good about getting on the computer once my day is over (I guess that would explain my lack of posts and pictures). I'm hoping that it will get easier with time.

Mackenzie starts kindergarten this year and I'm sure that will be here before we know it. Registration is in April.

Izzie is going to be 1 in a month. I'm not sure how her first year went by so very fast. Mackenzie's seemed to last so much longer. I wonder if it gets faster with every child or if it is just because we are older. It's fun to watch her personality develop. I think she will end up a lot like me. She is already very attached to her blankie and I'm not sure I ever want to try to make her sleep without it. I'm thinking we might need to try to get a backup just in case something were to happen to this on. She is also very clutzy like I was as a child. I do enjoy watching her and Mackenzie interract and seeing how much love there is between them. There is so much joy in Izzie's eyes when she sees her big sister. When we were leaving the mall today Jason and Mackenzie were walking ahead of Izzie and me and Izzie was so cute trying to catch them from her stroller. She was leaning forward with her arms out to try and grab them.

A Little Sad

My baby is growing up too fast. I knew that she was getting bigger, but she is cutting a top tooth. For some reason once a baby has their top teeth they just aren't really a baby anymore. I mean the bottom teeth are sad enough, but once they are in it is still a cute baby smile. Mackenzie didn't grow up so fast. I think once you have 2 kids time speeds up because this past year has gone by so fast. I can't believe that I need to start planning a first birthday party already not to mention that Mackenzie is starting kindergarten this year. Next thing I know they will both be out of the house. It just makes me that much more thankful that I was able to start working from home so I could spend more time with them.

Wisconsin Dells

This weekend we attempted to go to the Dells with Jason's sister's family and his brother's family. I say we attempted to because Izzie and I ended up coming home in the middle of the night last night. The poor kid just couldn't sleep and I didn't know what to do. Our sister-in-law ended up not being able to go either because her youngest was sick so Jason's brother came with the 2 older kids. Poor Izzie didn't sleep at all yesterday, except for a 20 minute nap in the car. Once I was finally able to put her to bed I had high hopes because she had been so great all day and she went right to sleep in her playpen, but she woke up a few times and then at 1 I could not get her back to sleep. I tried for quite a long time and just decided it would be better for us if we came home. Jason and Mackenzie stayed and actually are getting more time there because they don't have to deal with me working tomorrow (I'm such a pain). As it turns out, Izzie is cutting a tooth, so I don't know if it was the combination of that and lack of sleep that made last night impossible. We have had a nice relaxing day together today, but it has been very quiet without the rest of our family. Luckily they will be home early tomorrow, so we don't have to miss them for too long. It sounds like they are having a wonderful time and Mackenzie is getting some quality time with her cousins. Hopefully next time it will work out better for all of us, but at least we got some time there yesterday. Izzie was intrigued with the water parks.

Christmas

This was Izzie's first Christmas. Even though I had to work we had a wonderful time. We went to Aunt Tracy's house for Christmas Eve and the girls had a great time opening their gifts. On Christmas morning Mackenzie got up before Izzie did, so we let her open some presents while we waited for Izzie to get up (we were not crazy enough to wake up a baby to open presents). Santa got them just what they wanted, well at least Mackenzie. Izzie really enjoyed her first Christmas and we couldn't ask for 2 better little girls.

This was one of Mackenzie's favorite gifts. My mom bought a collage frame at Disney and put pictures from the trip in the holes.

Disney World

I know it's been a long time since I posted anything, but between our vacation and getting ready for Christmas I've been a little busy. On December 8th we went to Disney World to surprise Mackenzie for her 5th birthday. We had it all planned for a long time and was able to keep it from her. It was pretty amusing trying to keep it from her. We had to drop Scooby off at the pet hotel on Sunday night and our little walking question would stop asking why. We told her that he was going to get a bath and have some play time with his friends. As many of you know, Zane went to Heaven almost 2 months ago and I think Mackenzie was afraid that Scooby was going there too because she started crying when it was time to leave him, so we walked around the store to get him some Christmas presents (because why would you buy Christmas presents for a dog that was going to Heaven). That helped for a little while, but when we left the store she fell apart. She couldn't sleep without Scooby and she didn't want him to stay there, etc. The next morning we got her up early and we left. She had mentioned something about all of the luggage in the car but didn't really think anything of it. We started driving and she kept asking if we were going to get Scooby. We got close to the airport and she said "We're going the wrong way, we aren't going to the airport, we are going to get Scooby." When we parked we told her we were going to eat breakfast at the airport. We ended up getting on the plane and she still thought we were going to get Scooby. One of the flight attendants asked her if she was going to Disney World and she said "No, we are going to get my dog." It was cracking us up. We got to Orlando and were in line for that Magical Express and she still had not figured it out so Jason told her. She didn't really react. What we also didn't tell her was that my parents were meeting us there (they had never been before). When she saw them walking up she lit up like I've never seen before. She was so excited. She ran up to them so fast and gave them big hugs.

We had a nice time on the trip and Izzie really enjoyed herself too. She loved Mickey Mouse. I think I've been long winded enough so I will just post some pictures.

Here are pictures from Mackenzie's actual birthday. I would highly recommend Libby Lu for little girls that would enjoy a makeover. They are closing in January though. : ( After her makeover, we went to see Santa. I was very happy with how they both did. I figured there would've been lots of tears, but they did great. Mackenzie said that she would smile again next year if we got her a makeover again...I guess we'll have to find a new place to do that. I can't believe my little girl is 5.

Mackenzie had a party at preschool on Halloween and because of my wonderful new job, I was able to go. I brought Izzie in her costume so everybody could see her too. They did a parade around the school and then had pinatas for the kids. After I was done working we went trick or treating. Izzie hung out great and Mackenzie had such a good time. It was such a beautiful day, she didn't even need a sweater. After we were done trick or treating, we sat on the front porch to give out candy. Mackenzie held the bowl for the kids as they came by.

Girls Weekend

On October 19, Jason turned 31. It was not a great birthday because we had to travel back from Kansas City and who wants to spend their birthday traveling, but we did go out to dinner with his parents and we got him a cake. Happy birthday anyway!

Weekend Wedding

This past weekend we flew to Kansas City to see my cousin get married. It was Izzie's first trip and she did great. Mackenzie always travels well, but we were very pleased with both of the girls. On Friday when we got there, we met up with grandma, grandpa, Uncle Scott, and Aunt Holly at the airport. Then we all went to my cousin's house together to meet his fiance. Mackenzie got to go on a 4-wheeler with Jason and my cousin took the kids (and some of the parents) for a hayride. Mackenzie got to ride on one of their horses with my cousin's fiancee who she immediately fell in love with. Even now she's still talking about Kendra. I've never seen her take to somebody so quickly. We have a ton of great pictures of everybody from the wedding but since I try to focus this on the girls, here are the best pictures from people (I was carrying Izzie around most of the weekend which made it hard to take pictures) of them. Mackenzie and Abby and Lexi (one of my cousin's twin girls who are a month older than Mackenzie) had a ton of fun together. They were dancing fools at the reception. We had a great weekend. It was wonderful to see my whole family, I don't get to see any of them often enough. Kendra was a beautiful bride and I'm so glad that Chad found her.

Pumpkin Farm

Today we spent the morning at the pumpkin farm. The weather was beautiful and we had lots of fun. Mackenzie got to go on a pony ride and we all went on a tractor-pulled train ride and a horse-drawn hay ride. Izzie really enjoyed petting the horse (I had to hold her hand away for the pictures because the horse wanted to lick her). Mackenzie wanted to go on the train ride by herself, so we rode in a different car. She picked out a 31-pound pumpkin and we got a small one for Izzie.

Today was observation day at swim lessons so I took some video of Izzie in her class. Mackenzie was a little sad because her normal teacher wasn't there, so I didn't get any video of her. Izzie really likes the water.

One of Those Nights

You know how when you've been really looking forward to something how disappointing it can be when it's not all you thought it would be? I feel that way about my new computer. I saved for a year and finally bought the coveted MacBook and I am really aggravated with it. Things that worked once don't work anymore and I can't figure anything out. It's very frustrating and having a 4-year-old whine at you and ask you a million questions does not help your mood. Anyway, it's just been one of those nights, which is really a shame since it's Friday and beautiful outside. It would've been nice to go for a walk had Izzie not gone to bed at 5:30. She must be going through a growth spurt, but we've hardly seen her this week. I think I need a really great week to make up for the last few.

I'll try to get back in the swing of posting on here. We had a rough couple of weeks, so there wasn't much to post.

Busy Weekend

This weekend was a pretty busy one for us. We started with swim lessons on Saturday morning. Mackenzie is in preschool I and is learning swimming basics. Now about 15 minutes after Mackenzie's lessons started, Izzie had not only her first swimming lessons, but also it was her first time in a swimming pool. She did very well and didn't even fuss when I put her underwater for a second. I did feel bad for her though because they pool wasn't as warm as it usually is, so she little feet were a little purple and her chin was chattering a bit, but she did very well.

After swimming lessons we had we had a fairly relaxed afternoon. Mommy went to a Stamping Up party with some of her friends while I stayed home with the girls. Izzie took a very good nap while I played with Mackenzie and Grandma and Grandpa Ragsdale even came over for a while!

Today (Sunday) we went to JC Penny's and got Izzie's 6 month pictures taken, Of course Barb and I had a difficult time choosing which ones to get because they all turned out so well. As soon as we get a link to the pictures we'll make sure to share it. After pictures we ended up going to Tom and Sherry's house for lunch to visit with them and to see their new puppy, Oliver. We weren't done yet at this point. We made our way to Hillside for the 2nd birthday party for our friends Abigayle and Michael. We finally made it home around 6:30 with two very sleepy girls in the back seat. Now we get to watch the Bears game and they are even winning right now 7-6! We hope everyone else had a good weekend and hopefully it wasn't as busy as ours!

Labor Day

Wasn't it a great day today in the Chicagoland area? Upper 80's and hardly a cloud in the sky. My nephew has recently taken up the game of golf so we went and played 9 holes this morning. We even walked and didn't get a cart! Later on in the afternoon we all decided to go for a walk to the local park. Here are a few pictures from the park:

We had a great day today. Both of the kids were in a great mood almost all day. We went to the zoo with Tracy, Kayla & Nicholas and had really nice weather and just had a lot of fun. When we got home, Mackenzie and Jason made me a birthday cake. Isn't it great?

5 Months Old

Where has the time gone? Izzie is 5 months old already. Time is going by so much faster with her than it did when Mackenzie was a baby. Even though it's really fun to watch her grow and develop, in a way it's kind of sad. The newborn phase was gone in the blink of an eye and it seems like each new milestone is coming with lighting speed. It feels like one day I'm going to wake up and both of the girls are going to be all grown up. Mackenzie is such the little lady now and continuously surprises us with things that she says and does. I'm glad that really take the time to enjoy them while they are young.

Big Sister

Mackenzie is such a great big sister. She always wants to do something to help with Izzie. She feeds her, holds her, carries her, helps with diaper changes, and most of all plays with her. I hope the love between them stays this strong forever.

Sitting Up

Yesterday Izzie couldn't sit up without falling over pretty quickly, today she's sitting up pretty well. I just had her up in her crib and she sat there by herself until I laid her back down. It's amazing how fast they grow up.

Baseball Game

Today we took the girls to a minor league baseball game. It happened to be Jimmy Buffet day, so the players had flowered jerseys on. Izzie didn't like sitting in our seats (really good...behind home plate) so we spent a lot of time up where there was a breeze. Mackenzie had a blast! She even got to run the bases after the game.

I did learn something very important today though, don't trust a 4 year old to put sunscreen on you. She did a great job everywhere but the back of one shoulder and the top of the other. Needless to say, I have some really red spots. Good thing I spent most of the game in the shade.

Sweet Potatoes

Last night was the first night of sweet potatoes. They were Mackenzie's favorite, so we were curious to see how Izzie would like them. Mackenzie started off feeding her and accidentally got some up her nose and Izzie cracked up. Then after every bite, she would laugh. It was a riot. Of course as soon as Jason grabbed the video camera, she stopped laughing. Needless to say, I think she liked the sweet potatoes.

Jason very gently pushed Izzie in the baby swing while Mackenzie was playing on her slip and slide. She didn't really like it at first, but after a little while, he got a big smile.

I really wish I would've had my camera with me yesterday when we gave Izzie applesauce for the first time. The look on her face was priceless when she took that first bite. I don't think she was ready for the tart apples after having bananas as her first fruit because she looked like she had just sucked a lemon as she was eating her applesauce. I guess it wasn't that terrible because she kept eating it.

I think I'm going to need to start carrying the camera with me everywhere because I don't have any pictures to post on here of anything from the last couple of weeks. We went to the Kane County Fair on Saturday for a short time and saw my uncles who make the best popcorn I've ever had. It was really good to see them and Mackenzie enjoyed seeing the Tiger show and the petting zoo. Izzie had her first bananas at the fair and hung out great while we were there. She enjoyed being in the umbrella stroller which is a huge change from the big stroller (she didn't like it so much).

Jason brought Mackenzie to the pool on Sunday (again no camera) and they had so much fun. Jason came home totally sunburned, but I guess it was worth it because he really enjoyed spending the afternoon with Mackenzie.

I am waiting to hear back from Mackenzie's gymnastics studio because there is a little kid there that is scratching and hitting the other kids and I want her out of that class, but they won't call me back. I guess we'll have to start looking for a new studio.

Hopefully I'll have some pictures to post next time.

Slip and Slide

It was nice and hot last Sunday so while dad was golfing I decided to put out Mackenzie's slip and slide. She LOVED it. It was the perfect size for her and she did it over and over until she tired herself out enough to actually take a nap (she never takes naps at home).

Sisters

Last Sunday Mackenzie really wanted to play with Izzie, so they went downstairs and Mackenzie put Izzie on the bed she made at the bottom of the stairs and talked, read and sang to her. Both of the girls really enjoyed it. Afterwards, Mackenzie drew a picture of it. I think she really loves her sister.

Solid Food

On July 4, Izzie started on cereal. She seemed to like it the first time and since has learned to open her mouth and last night actually seemed a little mad when it was all gone. One more week and we can start on fruits and veggies.

Baptism

So I created this blog over a year ago and only did the initial post on the day I created it. I've decided that maybe I should try to keep it going, so here it goes...

Izzie's baptism was last weekend, June 29. We had my parents, my brother and sister-in-law and a pair of aunts and uncles come in from out of town for it. We had so much fun visiting for the weekend. Here is a pictures of the 4 of us waiting for the baptism to start. Can you tell how proud Mackenzie is of her baby sister?

Home Sick

Mackenzie got sick when we got home from school yesterday and didn't feel well all night so we are taking the day off to make sure she's better before we go back to school. I thought this would be a good opportunity to start this. I found out about this site through a friend and I love hers. It seems like a great way to keep everybody informed about what is going on in our lives. Hopefully the next post will have some exciting things and maybe some pictures in it.
